Designer Diary: January

What a Day…

Today started like most I woke up and got into my routine. I started getting into some admin work in prep for a call I had later in the day. I decided I was going to start taping around my neighborhood. After a short walk with my wifey, I returned home to three big boxes. My podcasting set was finally in. I ordered a mic set and my stream deck from around Thanksgiving. That lead me to start my first unboxing video of the equipment.

I finally met with the Group; it was a great time. I met some cool people and had a great convo. I am starting to get back into my swing and the setup of sustainability. I need to continue interacting with people and set up a daily social media time I can stick to. 4 times a day, and let's see how strict I want to be with a schedule. Either way, I will release a weekly diary with a week's vlogging videos and daily written entries. I can put both actions and thoughts into one medium. All this while being inspired by an online Creative to build in Public. In 2023, I'm throwing all caution to the wind.

It's time to take over the world!

Not as productive

I have been trying to be productive for the past few days, but days with Xander can be difficult because he loves attention, and I love spending time with him. That said, I could have been more productive. I am finishing up one project now but need to also work on the brand, social media, and new case studies. I tried to schedule my day and will stick to it. I am working on automation & workflows that are making the office more formidable.

What a week…

I have had quite the week. It started a little slow, with Monday being a holiday, but it was a relaxing day to start the year. I sat down and made a schedule which I last did a while ago. Unfortunately, I didn't stay on task. Midweek I had a Pro Group call, and sadly, my business isn't at "Pro Group" status yet, but I will get the prelim help I can get to take me to the next level & the Pro Group again. Other than that, I reached out to connect with Steven Heller and Debbie Millman, who both connected with me.

These are titans in the industry, and I can't believe I am making connections- I decided to do a build-in Public project for my rebranding, vlogging, and blogging the whole way through. I last felt energized and creative a long time ago, and 2023 is just starting.

What a Week…(pt. II)

This is the theme for 2023. What a week!!! As crazy as last week was, this week was equally hectic, but with some great opportunities on the horizon. It started with Sean calling me on Monday about an interview he was setting me up with. That led the way to a fee-person discussion on Tuesday. The same day I met Todd & Kelly about the site, and that evening I had to present research to another client. I worked like a dog on Monday and went to bed pretty late. I am also getting finished with one brand and starting to focus on the projects. That evening Sean contacted me to say they wanted a second interview at 11:30 am, right in the middle of my networking event. I had to cancel the networking meeting again for my interview. A few hours later, he told me another group wanted an interview. The evening meeting went great. After a night of much-needed rest, I had two discussions, but my clients launched their site and podcast. Later that evening, one of the two interviewees made a contract offer. Now it is Friday. I am planning a build in Public and a vast dump of content. I am excited because I am revolving this around my first trip abroad. I am headed to one of the O.G. Art locales... Italy! Until then, I am prepping a bunch of content to create while there but also planning things too!! Here is to my year!

Back to Reality

Coming off of a week-long trip to Italy, I am not fully ready to get back into things again. Before I left, I had realized that making some decisions.

We're just not happening in the time I wanted; during each time, I have learned more and

More I still needed to develop. I started following an artist named Laura Evans, she

Introduced me to "Building in Public," which I have learned about and want to dive into head-on! I am going to be going in on this 100% this week. That will start with me contacting that artist and asking her about the process. From there, I will develop new artwork and processes to bring the entire process into full swing. I am most looking forward to the build. I am also excited because a few old clients would like some new help. I am pleased about the business's future and how it will evolve through this process. Here is to a great week.
